An off-season full of positives for the Kings continues with the news that Buddy Hield earned a spot on the NBA’s all-rookie first team today.

Buddy was drafted sixth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2016 NBA draft. During his time in New Orleans, he played 57 games, in which started 37 of them. He averaged in those games 20.4 minutes, around 8.6 points on 39% from the field and around 37% from behind the arc, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

During the all-star break, Buddy was traded to the Kings in the DeMarcus Cousins deal. Buddy played 25 games this past season for the Kings, in which he started 18 of them. In those games, he averaged 29.1 minutes, around 15 points, including 48% from the field and around 43% from behind the arc, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Malcom Brogdon of the Milwaukee Bucks, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Willy Hernangomez are the other players that joined Buddy on the first team all-rookie team.

Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, Marquese Chriss of the Phoenix Suns, Brandon Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Yogi Ferrell of the Dallas Mavericks are the NBA’s all-rookie second team.
