Today is Anthony Tolliver's 32nd birthday. Today is also the day that he becomes a free agent. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Sacramento Kings parted ways with veteran forward Anthony Tolliver today.

In doing so, the Kings shed Tolliver's $8 million contract that he had on their books for this upcoming season. According to Bobby Marks of The Vertical, today was the deadline for Sacramento to decide on the future of their veteran forward. The team will only take a $2 million salary cap hit now, so the front office will have a little more money to work with going into the summer.

Anthony Tolliver is a great locker room guy. He's an NBA journeyman who has experienced his fair share of ups and downs in this league, so he could share his experiences with the younger players. I get that this move was made in order to create cap space, but in terms of veteran leadership, the Kings became weaker today. It is to be seen what the front office does in the draft three weeks from today, and in free agency this summer.

This move needed to be made by today, but it sure is unfortunate how Tolliver got cut on his birthday. But that's the NBA for you, it's a business first. Expect more moves to be made soon, as Arron Afflalo contract needs to be decided upon before June 23rd.
