Why the Kings are Winning Games and Breaking Records

Monday night's win over the Memphis Grizzlies was the 1st Kings game I attended since I watched them lose back on February 27th against the Minnesota Timberwolves. What I saw back in February was a team with no energy and quite honestly, still lost without their All-Star center. What I saw Monday night was the complete opposite. I saw a team that knew how to play together and the chemistry was exquisite. Young guys and veterans working together to help Coach Joerger get the W against his former team.

These past 2 games have been really fun to watch as Kings fans, and that's thanks to a few guys. Buddy Hield has been on fire lately. He has scored in double-digits in all but 1 game in the month of March. He has also hit at least 2 3's in all but 1 game in March. The consistency has been great since Buddy was traded to Sacramento and Kings fans should not hesitate at all viewing him as their SG of the future.

Anthony Tolliver was also a big part of that Kings comeback win at the Staples Center Sunday afternoon. AT went 5-6 from 3 on Sunday and has provided some great defense as well. Tolliver has been helping the team in other ways that don't show up on the score sheet, most notably mentoring younger guys like Skal Labissiere.

The Kings are not only winning games against playoff teams, they're breaking records while doing it. With about 5 minutes left in Sunday's game against the Clippers, it looked as if the Kings were going to take the loss and move on. However, a resilient effort from a lineup that included Buddy, Galloway, and Papagiannis stormed back and stole the win from the Clippers. The Kings ended the game on a 22-3 run and got themselves in the history books as well.

It didn't stop there. With their win over Memphis on Monday night, the Kings did something for the 1st time since moving to Sacramento.

The culture has changed in Sacramento. The offense doesn't run through 1 player anymore and it shows. A complete team effort with big contributions from the young guys as well as the vets has translated to the Kings stealing some W's from playoff teams. With only 8 games left to play this season, the mood is a little different for Kings fans. Used to just waiting for the season to be over with, fans are actually enjoying watching this team grow as the season winds down. And with 2 potential top 10 draft picks this summer, the future does in fact look bright for the Sacramento Kings.
