For some players, the NCAA Tournament is the last chance to show what they have to bring to the NBA game. It is college basketball's biggest stage and it's where stars are born. The last 9 seasons, the Kings have had a rookie on the roster that played in the NCAA Tournament the previous year. NBA scouts use this invigorating tournament to see how these college athletes go up against the toughest competition at the D-1 level.
In the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft, it is possible the Kings have 2 top 10 picks. They will also have an early 2nd round pick from Philadelphia. With these 3 picks crucial to the rebuilding process of the Sacramento Kings, we are certain the Kings front office will be watching the tournament continuously as they hope to find the next Kings' All-Star. With that being said, let us take a look at 3 players playing in this years' tournament that could very possibly end up in a Sacramento uniform next season.
#1 De'Aaron Fox, Kentucky
Like many current Kentucky players in the NBA right now, Fox has had an incredible freshman season. This isn't a surprise thought, Fox was the sixth-ranked player in the 2016 college recruiting class. A classic one-and-done player, Kings fans may be looking at their point guard of the future. The 19 year old was also just recently named to the First-team All SEC. Kentucky is projected to go far into the tournament (I have them making the Final 4) so fans will have multiple opportunities to watch Fox as he just might get picked with 1 of the Kings 2 1st round picks.
#2 Jayson Tatum, Duke
Like Kentucky, I also have Duke making the Final 4. While Rudy Gay has possibly played his last game as a King, it's time for fans to start thinking of their future small forward. Another one-and-done player, Tatum can score. Averaging just under 17 points a game, Tatum is also a great FT shooter at 87%. I would not be surprised for the Kings to sign a veteran SF this off-season if Rudy Gay does walk away. Someone that Tatum can learn behind as he is even younger than De'Arron Fox. Tatum is a great young talent and I would love to see him in a Sacramento uniform next season.
#3 Jonathan Isaac, Florida State
Isaac, like the other 2 players mentioned before, is just 19 years old. And although he didn't have as great a freshman as Tatum and Fox, I like Isaac the most of these 3 guys. He's a combo forward with great size and reach. A hustle player who can go up and fight for rebounds. The real reason I like him most is thinking what he, Skal Labissiere, and Willie Cauley-Stein can do in the future. I feel as if Isaac can fit in really well with these 2 guys.
Other players to keep an eye on-Lonzo Ball, Miles Bridges, Justin Jackson, Caleb Swanigan, Dillon Brooks
