It's a sad day in Sacramento for most Kings fans as the DeMarcus Cousins Era in Sacramento has officially come to an end.
It was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical after the 2017 NBA All-Star game that the Sacramento Kings agreed to trade DeMarcus Cousins, as well as Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans, Pelicans' 2017 1st round draft pick (Top 3 protected), and a 2017 2nd round draft pick (via Philadelphia).
This comes as a shock to most in Sacramento including Cousins's camp who were promised just weeks ago that Cousins was wanted by the Kings franchise. According to rumors, they even planned on signing him to a $200+ Million max contract extension at some point this summer. Cousins constantly downplayed any unhappiness with the organization and always claimed that he was happy and that Sacramento was where he wanted to be.
The Kings will have to cut a player in order to get the roster down to 15 after the trade. The current rumor is that Kings will either buyout Tyreke Evans's contract or cut Langston Galloway.
UPDATE:
Kings are waiving Matt Barnes in order to make room for the incoming players from New Orleans.
