How Will the Kings Newest Additions Contribute the Rest of the Season?

I am sure that none of us have really come to the realization that DeMarcus Cousins is no longer a Sacramento King. It might not hit us all until Thursday night when the Kings play Denver. Now while we're all thinking about "What could have been?" or "Why now?" or even "Why at all?", we have to face the present.

The reaction around the league has been pretty consistent with the fact the Kings got way too little in return for the 3-time all star:

The Kings received guards Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, and former King Tyreke Evans in last nights blockbuster trade. Sacramento also waived Matt Barnes earlier today, so it is almost certain all 3 players will play for the Kings the remainder of the season. How can these 3 guards contribute for Sacramento this season?

Well, it seems as if the Cousins deal is not the only deal Sacramento will make this week. So with moves possibly still to be made, the Kings newest additions roles' remain to be seen. Nonetheless, we can still discuss what these guys bring to the table.

Tyreke Evans, who won the NBA Rookie of the Year award with the Kings in 2010, is a free agent after this season and it seems unlikely Evans sticks around after this year. Even though Evans is most likely a rental for half a season, he brings versatility and scoring off the bench. The thing with Evans since his rookie year has been the injury bug. He cannot seem to shake it. Evans only played in 25 games last year and has already missed more than half of this seasons games. If he can stay healthy he could be a nice option off the bench for Coach Joerger.

Langston Galloway has been the opposite of Evans. Galloway played in all 82 games for the Pelicans last year and has only missed 2 games this season. He is averaging 8.6 points per game while averaging 20 minutes. He has a player option for next season. If he does perhaps stay around, he could provide a great depth piece for the Kings.

And now we have Buddy Hield. The Kings have been high on him since his college career at Oklahoma and they would have selected him if he fell to them in this past years' draft. He has played in all 57 games this year, including 37 starts. In his rookie year, he has almost identical stats to Galloway. Averaging 8.6 points while playing 20 minutes a game. Kings fans should be excited about Hield, as he has a ton of potential. He will also get a lot of opportunity with the Kings as Ben McLemore and Arron Affalo's names have been thrown around in trade rumors. Also Kings rookie SG Malachi Richardson is down for 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury.

After the trade deadline expires on Thursday, these 3 new players will have a much better understanding on what their roles will be for the rest of the season. we're not sure how long the sting of this Cousins trade will hurt. And we will have to wait and see just how much both franchise's are affected by it, in the short and long run.

Bottom line, saying it sucks to be a Kings fan might be an understatement. There's really not much else to say. The Kings have one of the most loyal fan bases in the NBA and we will have to stick together during what seems to be a very tough time for the foreseeable future.
