Can the Kings Defy Odds Once Again Tonight?

There has been only 3 teams to defeat both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors this season. The Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and yup, that's right, the Sacramento Kings. Those first 2 teams mentioned, are a combined 71-34. The Kings are a frustrating 20-32. That's not where the head-scratching stops. Despite defeating the 2 teams that were in last years' NBA Finals, the Kings have suffered losses to the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the Phoenix Suns. A combined 56-100 record for those 3 teams.

It is certainly obvious that being a Kings fan can be a hellish ride as this team suffers through inconsistency yet again. With that being said, do the DeMarcus Cousins-less Kings have a chance against the red-hot Boston Celtics in Sacramento tonight?

For the past few seasons, there is one thing the Kings have been consistent about...being inconsistent. The Kings seem like they play their best against the top teams which leads to Kings fans screaming into their TV's "Why can't you play like this every game!" With the Celtics visiting tonight, can the Kings put up a fight despite being without their top player?

Al Horford is licking his chops knowing DeMarcus Cousins won't be playing tonight, but it might not be as easy as he thinks. The Kings still have 2 centers who can give Horford trouble. Willie Cauley-Stein and Kosta Koufus will have their hands full tonight, but both have taken advantage when given the minutes so let's hope they can do the same tonight.

Isaiah Thomas has quickly became a star and one of the best point guards in the game. He will be a handful tonight as he returns to the city where he began his NBA career. Darren Collison and Ty Lawson have been a nice 1-2 tandem for the Kings and Sacramento will need both of them to step up if they want a chance to take home the W tonight.

The Kings are shorthanded big time, so the question arises, who will step up tonight for Sacramento in order to give the Kings their best chance tonight? My guess-Arron Afflalo. Afflalo has the opportunity against Jaylen Brown, the young rookie out of CAL. Afflalo must take advantage against Brown's inexperience and get his shot going early.

It will no doubt be an uphill battle tonight. With no Cousins, Gay, Casspi, or Temple, the rest of the team will need to step up to fill the holes left by their teammates absences. With the Kings history of playing their best basketball when determined underdogs, we may see a surprisingly good game tonight. Let's watch and see if the Kings can shock their fans once again.
