Rumor: DeMarcus Cousins Intends to Sign Contract Extension with Kings

Sacramento Kings big man, DeMarcus Cousins reportedly intends to sign a massive $207 million (estimation) max-contract extension with the team, according to James Ham of CSN.
An article by ESPN's Marc Stein published on Saturday (Jan. 7) stated that the Kings wanted to pitch a $200+ million contract extension to Cousins. The two sides have been tossing around numbers and intend to sign on the dotted line as soon as they are allowed to do so no earlier than July 1, 2017.
Cousins is currently on the 3rd year of his 4-year, max contract that was signed in September of 2013. That deal ends after the 2017-18 NBA season. If signed to a max-contract this time around, DeMarcus is eligible for a 5-year contract, which would keep him in Sacramento through the 2022-23 NBA season.
Despite constant trade rumors surrounding the Kings' franchise player, Cousins has stated over and over again that Sacramento is where he wants to be. When asked about the constant trade rumors during an interview with NBA TV, DeMarcus said, “If you were to ask me, I think my jersey will be hanging in the rafters when I retire in Sacramento…"

DeMarcus Cousins is current averaging 28.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists for the Kings in 37 games. He's also shooting 38.4% from 3-point range and 45.1% from the field.
