These Kings might just be the most confounding team in the NBA. On Sunday, they capped off their five-game road trip with a win in Toronto against a Raptors team that was rolling. Of the five opponents on their East Coast swing, I would have guessed that the Raptors would be the game they would have lost. But since this is the #KANGZ we're talking about, they lost the four games that looked winnable on paper and won the the game that looked the toughest *MJ shrug*. It took some lockdown defense in the second half and gritty performances from DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, but the Kings were able to salvage a win on their road trip and come back home with some momentum. Let's take a look at tonight's opponent, the winless New Orleans Pelicans.
Somebody Call 911
I can't even remember the last time the Pelicans didn't have at least one impact player on their injury report. This team has had some intriguing talent over the past few years but just can't seem to stay healthy. Tonight, the Pelicans will be without former King Tyreke Evans (knee), Quincy Pondexter (knee), my name twin Jrue Holiday (personal reasons for which no one can blame him for taking his time with) and Lance Stephenson who was just waived after injuring his groin and requiring surgery. All four of the aforementioned players are important pieces for the Pelicans so you can't really be too surprised at their 0-7 start even with Anthony Davis playing out of his mind to start the season. The Kings will have to make the most of this opportunity and beat a shorthanded squad tonight because this looks like their easiest matchup for the next two weeks.
You Have One Job...
Anthony Davis is a beast. He is an absolute problem. The game plan is simple, Kings: stop this man.
That is all.
