Well, here we are again. What DeMarcus says is true, the marathon does continue. After a game of ups and downs against the Heat, the Kings are now 234 miles north of Miami in Orlando to face the Magic. Coming off of a game with a few questionable calls late in the 4th quarter, we'll see how Boogie and the Kings bounce back from their second straight loss on this 5 game road trip. Can they beat a 1-3 team coming off a 103-101 win against the Philadelphia 76ers?
A Big Man's World
The Kings' bigs are going to have their hands full once again tonight. The Magic have a surplus of very good bigs down low. They've stolen Bismack Biyombo from Toronto, sent Victor Oladipo to the Thunder for Serge Ibaka, re-signed Nikola Vučević and still have 3-year power forward Aaron Gordon under contract. That is a VERY stacked front court. It was uncertain during the offseason if the Magic even had any interest in keeping Vučević, it's a good thing they did, because he's off to a hot start for them. He's shooting 52% from the field and is averaging 14.8 points to go along with 12.8 rebounds a game. Vučević
had 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists in Tuesday's win against Philly.
I Got the Keys Keys Keys
The key? DeMarcus Cousins. He has to play well and stay out of foul trouble if the Kings want to win this game. But he's also going to need some help from his supporting cast (it would also be nice if the referees would just let him play basketball... just sayin'). Matt Barnes, Arron Afflalo, Rudy Gay, Ty Lawson, and Ben McLemore NEED to hit their shots tonight. Which brings me to my next point...
The Three Pointer
You live and you die by the three pointer. On Tuesday against the Heat, Kings died by the three pointer, on both sides of the ball. They only made 21.7% of their three point shots, the Heat made 44.8% of their's. We were 5 for 23 behind the three point line, the Heat were 13-29. The Kings have to learn how to shoot their three pointers and guard the perimeter better.
Another test for the Kings tonight. Get it done, fellas.
