The day we've all been waiting for is finally here. Opening night in our brand new, "state-of-the-art" arena. Some may be visiting the Golden 1 Center for the very first time tonight or in the near future. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your visit:
• Arrive early!
Unlike Sleep Train Arena, the Golden 1 Center is not in the middle of a massive parking lot. Although there are more than enough parking spaces (more than STA) within a mile radius of G1C, it will be a much longer walk to the arena. The Kings have pushed tip-off times back 30 minutes to help fans get adjusted with the downtown atmosphere and get to their seats on time. Arrive at least an hour before tip-off, avoid missing any action. Reserve your parking spot before you leave for the event: SacPark.org
• Take Regional Transit
If you aren't a fan of driving in a highly populated area, take regional transit. Whether light rail or bus, RT can bring you within a block of the arena. The Kings and Sac RT also offer a deal on certain event days that allow you to ride for free. All you have to do is show the bus driver or light rail conductor your ticket to the event. This service is not available for every event, stay tuned to either the Kings' twitter page or the Golden 1 Center twitter page to find out when this offer is available.
• Take Uber or Lyft
If you want to pull up nearly to the doorstep of the G1C, take Uber or Lyft. Use our Uber promo code to save some money: SacramentoTUE (https://www.uber.com/invite/sacramentotue)
• Buy some 'Merch!
The Golden 1 Center is full of Kings Team Stores. There are more than triple the amount of team stores throughout the arena. Whether you're on the plaza level, suite level, bridge level, or outside of the arena, a team store is near you. Check out the brand new stores and get some cool new Kings merchandise.
• Check out the local eats
Not only does G1C have triple the amount of team stores but also has triple the amount of food choices. Pizza? Salad? Gyros? You name it, the G1C probably has it. So long are the days of hot dogs, nachos, fries or pizza as your only choice of food. The food is healthier, better tasting, and sourced within a 150 mile radius of Sacramento.
• Sierra Nevada Draught House
Located on the bridge level, this might be the coolest place to hang out either before, during, or after the game. The view of the court is great and the view of the grand entrance is breathtaking. It's also a plus if you're a fan of beer.
• No tickets? No problem.
Come out and enjoy the Kings game from outside. Although not yet completely finished, Downtown Commons (DOCO) will be the coolest hangout spot in Sacramento in a year or two, especially on event days. If the event happens to be a Kings game, you can watch the game from the grand entrance on video screens, if you don't have tickets or can't afford tickets. It's a cool way to feel apart of the game day atmosphere, without spending a fortune to actually be inside the arena.
The change is real, Sacramento. The future is here. Welcome to the Golden 1 Center!
