Kings trim roster down to 15

On Monday October 24th at 2:00pm PST the Kings needed to cut the roster down from 18 players down to 15 before the start of the regular season on Tuesday. The Sacramento Kings decided to cut Jordan Farmar, Lamar Patterson, and 2016 Second Round Draft pick Isaiah Cousins.

Ty Lawson made the roster which is not much of a surprise. Although he did miss a team flight the day after a long night in Las Vegas the night before. This might have affected the future of Lawson's time in Sacramento but nothing much was made of it and he will remain on the roster and will be the Opening Night Starter.

Lamar Patterson will look to start the season in Reno with the Bighorns due to the fact that their wasn't exactly enough room for him on the roster as of right now but the Kings obviously like him still to keep him around as a part of the organization. Also, Isaiah Cousins will join him with the Bighorns as well simply for the same reason. This could benefit Cousins as well and will help him overall as a player in the developing stages of his career early on.

I did find it as a surprise that the Kings cut Jordan Farmar due to the lack of Point Guard depth. I thought they would want to keep a player who's natural position is Point Guard and has the experience to be a decent back up while Darren Collison is serving his eight game suspension. Ty Lawson will serve as the Kings starting Point Guard while Garrett Temple will serve as the back up for that duration of that time and occasionally throughout the season despite it not being his main position.

The Kings will open up the season tomorrow night in Phoenix versus the Suns and the Home Opener in Sacramento is on Thursday versus the San Antonio Spurs. Both games will start at 7:00pm PST. Go Kings!
