Free Agent Ty Lawson and the Sacramento Kings have agreed on a 1-year deal with the details of the deal yet to be announced. Ty Lawson had met with coaches and officials of the Kings on Saturday and already had plans on meeting with the Pelicans the following week but those plans were cut short due to the Kings offering him a contract on Sunday. Last season, Lawson averaged 5.8 PPG, 1.7 REB, 3.4 AST, while shooting a career worst 38.7 FG%, while also posting career low 33.0% from beyond the arc, and 70% from the Free Throw line. While having a brief stint with the Houston Rockets, he wasn't able to run the floor successfully with James Harden and the Rockets later agreed to a buyout in March. He then decided to continue playing that season and was signed by the Indiana Pacers for the remainder of the season. It is not known yet whether or not Ty Lawson or Darren Collison will start. Collison will likely receive a suspension for the legal issues he has been involved in this off-season. So this will open up the opportunity for Lawson to showcase the ability that he is able to play at the level he once played at with Denver. With this move made by the Kings, I would assume that this may not be the final move made by Vlade Divac and the rest of the Kings officials because the roster now stands at 17. The Kings will need to make some roster moves to get that down to 15. Despite Lawson dealing with some legal issues in the past, the Kings signed him to a short-term deal. This is a low risk, high reward type of deal.
