The 2016-17 NBA schedules were released today on NBA.com. The season opens on October 25, 2016 and ends on April 12, 2017. The All-Star break will start on February 16th and end on February 22nd. The All-Star game will be played on February 19th.
The Kings will open the season on the road in Phoenix at the Talking Stick Resort Arena against the Phoenix Suns on October 26th at 7:00pm (PST). The following night, the Kings will play their very first regular season game at the Golden 1 Center against the San Antonio Spurs. This is the first time that the Kings will see a Tim Duncan-less Spurs team since 1997. Kings will play their last regular season home game of the season on April 11, 2017 against the Phoenix Suns. The final regular season game will be on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers in Los Angeles on April 12, 2017.
Kings will have 11-total nationally televised games this season. That number is down from 13 that the Kings had in the 2015-16 season. Kings have one game on TNT (Nov. 10 vs. Lakers), one game on ESPN (Nov. 18 vs. Clippers), and the remaining nine games will be on NBA TV, starting on October 29th against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kings will have 18 sets of back-to-backs this season compared to 19 from last season. The longest home stand for the team will be 7 games starting on Wednesday, January 4th and ending Wednesday, January 18th. The longest road trip will also be 7 games starting a couple of days later on Friday, January 20th and ending on Tuesday, January 31st.
It is important to note that all home games at the Golden 1 Center will now have a start time of 7:30pm (Sacramento time) rather than the 7:00pm start time the team used to have at Sleep Train Arena. According to Golden 1 Center on twitter, this is so fans have time to adjust to a downtown environment.
The Kings announced a few weeks ago the schedule for the 2016 preseason. The Kings start on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers in Anaheim on October 4th. The second game will also be on the road against the Warriors in San Jose. The Kings will play their first basketball game at the Golden 1 Center ever against Maccabi Haifa (a professional Israeli team) on October 10th. The final games will be against the Lakers in Las Vegas on October 13th, against the Wizards in Lexington, KY on October 15th, and at home against the Clippers to wrap up the preseason on October 18th. The Kings will play at Rupp Arena (home of the Kentucky Wildcats) for the second year in a row, this time against former Wildcat John Wall and the Washington Wizards.
