According to the Vertical, the Kings have signed free agent guard Garrett Temple to a 3-year/$24 million deal. The third year appears to be a player option.

Temple, who is now 30 years old, is a 6’6” 2-guard who can also play the PG and SF positions. He once signed a 10-day contract with the Kings back in 2010. In his 5 games with the Kings, he averaged about 2.2 points in only about 4.6 minutes.

Temple later made his way to Washington with the Wizards in 2012 where he found a home. 2015-16 was by far his best season yet, averaging career-highs in nearly every category. He played an average of 24.4 minutes per game, starting 43 out of 80 games played. He averaged 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and only 0.8 turnovers per game. He also shot 39.8% from the field, 34.5% from three and 45.3% from two, as well as 72.8% from the free throw line. While some of those numbers may seem low for a starting shooting guard, Temple was known mostly for his defense. Temple scored a career high 23 points against the Kings last season. He played primarily at small forward for the Wizards last season.

It looks as if the Kings are starting to focus more on defense at guard with this signing as well as with the signing of Arron Afflalo just a day ago.
