The Kings have reportedly signed free agent guard Arron Afflalo. The Vertical was first to report the signing.
Afflalo spent this past season in New York where he averaged 12.8 points per game for the Knicks. Afflalo is well-traveled, having spent time in Portland, Orlando, Denver and Detroit before landing in New York. With little depth in the back court, the nine-year veteran should slot himself into the starting shooting guard position next season for the Kings.
The length and cost of this contract is ideal for Sacramento due to the fact that Afflalo will be 32 years old by the end of it. This is seen as a low-risk signing and given all of the ridiculous amounts of money being thrown around during the first few days of free agency, fans should be thrilled that the Kings did not overspend to help fill a position of need. Also worth noting is the fact that there were no leaks from inside the organization before this signing was made. Kudos to GM Vlade Divac for keeping things close to his vest and not letting the media know about the deal before it actually happened.
Welcome to Sacramento, Arron!
