Sacramento Kings' Point Guard Dilemma

Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Bobby Jackson, even Isaiah Thomas.
Remember when the Kings had legitimate team leaders at the point guard position? Last season the Kings began the year with Rajon Rondo, Darren Collison, and Seth Curry. Despite rejuvenating his career and leading the league in APG (assists per game), it looks as if Rondo will not be returning to the team after his one season in Sacramento, in which he called "tension-filled". Collison shined in his one season as a starter in Sacramento in the '14-'15 campaign, but the former UCLA star is now facing multiple domestic violence charges.
Who does that leave us with? Ah yes, Seth Curry. At times last season, Curry looked like he could translate into something special. In 44 games, including 9 starts, Curry put up a 45% 3PT percentage. Seth also had a few nice moments as a floor general, with multiple times hooking up with Willie Cauley-Stein on alley-oops. The bad news is Seth declined his player option for this season, making him a restricted free agent. The Kings still have a chance to bring him back, but will he be the starter they need? Not a chance. Let's look at some options the Kings have this offseason to help upgrade that point guard spot.

Through the draft: In my current mock draft, I have the Kings taking PG/SG Jamal Murray, a prolific scorer and aggressive player who could possibly jump in as a starter right away with the Kings especially with the fact he could play the shooting goad position as well. Now what about some other point guard prospects? One other guy I'd be thrilled the Kings landed would be Kris Dunn out of Providence. Out of all the top draft prospects, I believe Dunn's playing style could translate the best to the NBA's level, another guy who could start on opening night for the Kings. The rest of the top point guard prospects really are not predicted to be taken until late lottery/mid 1st round. So perhaps a trade down for the Kings is possible? Guys like Dejounte Murray, Demetrius Jackson, and Tyler Ulis could easily all still be available after the midway point of the 1st round. It will be interesting to see what the Kings do Thursday night.
Through Free Agency: Vlade and the Kings know that free agents will not be fighting over who gets to sign with the Kings, new arena or not, Sacramento is not a high free agent destination. That, however, does not mean the Kings won't still land a decent free agent point guard to help this team. Who are their options? The name that first jumps out is Mike Conley. With his old coach Dave Joerger now leading the bench for the Sacramento Kings, Conley may be compelled to join his old buddy at the Golden 1 Center. Another really popular name could be Brandon Jennings; Jennings and Cousins? That could be fun to watch. A guy you could put in right away as your starting point guard with great eyes as a floor general. I'll throw in a dark horse as well- Greivis Vasquez. He played well in his short time with the Kings. And although the probably is made out better for the bench, he could be a decent starter and would come at a much cheaper price.
